According to car occupants - Dhiraj Kumar and Sushil Kumar, residents of Patiala, they were heading to deliver gold to a jeweller in Patiala, the ADCP said, adding, “The car occupants said they had taken the consignment of 25-kg gold biscuits from some dealer at Civil Lines on behalf of a Patiala-based jeweller. Out of 25 kg, 11-kg gold was delivered to some clients while the remaining 14-kg was to be delivered to a jeweller in Patiala.

Though the occupants claimed that it was genuine gold to be transected legally, they could not produce any document. “The case has been handed over to the IT Department to inquire if there is any illegality involved,” the ADCP added.
