World Heritage Day was observed at St Joseph’s school with fervour. The objective was to create awareness among students about the conservation of the cultural heritage. Teachers motivated the students for the cause and stressed on the conservation of historical sites. To make the day interesting, various competitions were organised. The students pledged to protect the cultural heritage of the country.

Spell bee competition

A class-wise spell bee competition was held at Saint Soldier International School, Sector 28 B, for Classes I to X. The competition not only increased the student’s vocabulary but also improved their pronunciation. Various games were also organised for Classes XI and XII. Tapping the ball, skipping, relay race and brisk walk events were held for the teachers.

New academic session

The new academic session started with an array of activities for Classes VI to VIII. An intra-class calligraphy competition was organised to encourage the children to write neat and clean in English and Hindi. A story and poetry writing competition was held for Classes VII and VIII. All students participated enthusiastically. The best five entries in the each category were shortlisted for appreciation.

Birth anniversary of Mahatma Hansraj

Celebrating the 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Hansraj, the day at KBDAV-7 started with the recital of the Gayatri Mantra and a yajna. Students recited the shlokas and were joined by their teachers. They took a pledge to save the earth and recited the ten principles of the Arya Samaj. Another highlight of the day was the KBDAV-7 mini eco-village.

Cleanliness drive

To mark World Heritage Day, an interactive session and cleanliness drive was organised by the peace and eco-club of GMSSS, Sector 38 (West). During the interaction, Rakesh Dahiya, peace and eco-club in-charge, said the world heritage was the shared wealth of the ankind. Principal Prem Joshi said the special day offered an opportunity to spread awareness about the cultural heritage.

Workshop

To generate awareness on good hygiene, DC Montessori Senior Secondary Smart School, Mani Majra, a workshop was organised for the kindergarten students by Dr Surekha. A PPT on right eating habits and healthy lifestyle was also shown, along with the demonstration on correct brushing technique. A talk on importance of keeping the hands clean was delivered.

Student shortlisted for singing reality show

Panchkula: Madhav Arora, a Class III students of CL DAV Public School. Sector 11, Panchkula, is one of the 30 students shortlisted out of 1,700 from several schools of Tricity for the Indian Idol Junior show. Madhav Arora, an ardent fan of Honey Singh, received huge appreciation from judges Vishal and Salim Suleman while singing songs of various genres in a unique style.

Stress management

A workshop on stress management and Internet addiction was conducted by Dr Sachin Kaushik and Dr Ruby Ahuja from Max Super Speciality Hospital and Dr Nitika Sharma of Blue Bird High School, Sector 16, Panchkula. In the workshop, the students were told about the stress causing factors, which are the mainstay of many diseases. It was stressed that the Internet addiction had cut-off the present generation socially, leading to crimes.

Interactive session

Doon Public School, Sector-21, Panchkula, held an interactive session on the theme “How To Achieve True Success and Greatness in Life” for students and the staff members. The students participated in a talk show. There was an open discussion on Swami Vivekananda’s teachings and life. Books were also distributed among the students on the Swami Vivekananda’s life.

Various activities mark heritage day

Mohali: Students of Ryan International School, Mohali, observed World Heritage day. They participated in a variety of activities that included a talk show, worksheets and research activities on famous monuments of the world. The activity helped them in becoming aware of the cultural heritage of the country as well as other countries.

Special assembly

To sensitise students about the significance of the traffic rules and safe driving, a special assembly was conducted by Class X. A PowerPoint presentation prepared by the students highlighted do’s and don’ts. The students used placards to spread awareness on the issue. A melodious song on road safety was sung to the tune of song Kolavari.

Tree plantation drive

A tree plantation drive was held at Greenfield School by BEd and MEd students, along with school principal Dr Bhupinder Sharma and coordinator Vanita. The students gave a message about the importance of tree plantation. The students pledged to be more vigilant about the environmental degradation and decided to adopt a plant on Earth Day.

Welcome party

Golden Bells Public School held a welcome party for students of Classes pre nursery to II. Different activities like musical chair, passing the ball, sing a song and dance were organised. Gifts were distributed among all participants. The aim was to introduce new students to enhance their confidence. Principal Anjali Chaudhry welcomed the new students and wished them luck. — TNS
