Ludhiana: As many as 50 volunteers of Red Cross Society of Government College for Girls, accompanied by their teacher-in-charge, visited the Old Age Home run by Red Cross Society. The volunteers stayed there for four hours and had interaction with the senior citizens staying in the house. Students recited poems, narrated short stories and entertained them with songs and jokes. They also distributed woollen mufflers and fruits among elderly persons. The senior citizens advised the students to give due respect to their parents and grandparents and get their love and blessings. Principal of the college Mohinder Kaur Grewal appreciated the volunteers of the Red Cross Society for this noble act. Mohinder advised them not to follow western cultural blindly and forget the glorious traditions of this great country, which teach them to be always respectful towards the elderly people and contribute their might by helping the needy and underprivileged sections of society. — TNS
