St Thomas’ College turns 100

St Thomas’ College, one of the oldest schools of Dehradun, turned 100 today.
GIG Mann, a board member of the institution, said “We wish the celebrations reverberate in the ears of the people of Dehradun for another 100 years”.
RV Gardner, principal of the school, while talking to mediapersons on the occasion, talked of the school’s transformation from being a three-room institution to a school of national repute.
“It is under the aegis of my predecessors and with the unceasing help of my staff that I have been able to work towards the progress of education in general and the school in particular. I wish the school continues to contribute meaningfully towards the betterment of the society,” said Gardner.
The celebrations started with a thanksgiving prayer of all religions and release of balloons and a dove to seek the blessings of the Almighty.
A school calendar was released on the occasion, which had the dates of various functions the school as planned for the whole year.
As part of the celebrations, the school will include all sections of the society to share its joy and happiness. There are functions for elderly and the underprivileged and students will devote 100 hours towards improving the traffic situation of the town along with traffic police.
A cyclothon will be held with the message “green Doon, clean Doon, fit Doon”, and many more fun and frolic activities have been planned with the alumni of the school.
