Minister recalls contribution of Guru Nanak National College founder

A cultural function was organised at Guru Nanak National College, Doraha and Guru Nanak Model Senior Secondary School to commemorate the birth anniversary of its founder president Ishwar Singh.
The event was held at Ishwar Singh Memorial Hall of the college. Punjab Irrigation Minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon the chief guest, recalled the selfless devotion and services offered by Dr Ishwar Singh to the town, college and school.
Dhillon announced a grant of Rs 2 lakh for the college. Subordinate Services Board Chairman Santa Singh Umedpuri and Akali Dal leader Baba Jagroop Singh also graced the occasion.
Sukhwinder Singh Virk, Dean, Cultural Activities, talked about the importance of literary activities. Pavittar Pal Singh Pangli, finance secretary, college management committee, delivered the vote of thanks.
Ishwar Singh was a physician, an educationist, a social worker, a politician and a philanthropist till his last breath, said Virk.
The cultural show included a variety of items such as folk songs, plays, poems and instrument-playing.
