Fresh flower arrangement competition was conducted at St. Peter’s Academy for the students of Class VIII to X. The competition brought out the talent and creativity of the students. The aesthetic sense of the students could be observed through various layouts that focused on different themes such as- Nature, Mother’s Day and Unity in Diversity. Students’ creativity was praised by principal Fr. John Bosco who highlighted the role of youth in maintaining unity in the country.

WELLNESS DAY

Health and Wellness Day was celebrated at Police DAV Public School, Patiala, today. Students of health and wellness club gave information about heat stroke, its causes and means of prevention in the morning assembly. Students told how one can help a person suffering from heat stroke. Students of Classes IX and X gave tips to prevent heat stroke. Principal Meena Thapar applauded the students for their efforts and guided them to keep themselves protected during this harsh summer season.

ECO RALLY

An eco rally was organised by St Xavier’s International School, Patiala, to spread awareness about water conservation and protection of water resources in order to ensure the responsible utilization of water for a sustainable future. Students of Class VII to XII enthusiastically participated in the rally. They carried placards and shouted slogans “Water Water everywhere, Try to Save It If You Care.” They interacted with people and told them tips to conserve water. A special assembly was conducted for the whole week.

HEALTHY FOOD ACTIVITY

Students of The British Co-Ed High School undertook the project ‘Eat the Best, Leave the Rest’. Under this activity, students researched and gathered information about the three meals- breakfast, lunch and dinner and monitor their eating habits for three weeks in terms of intake of carbohydrates, fat and proteins. The partner school –Nab’Elfehr Secondary School, Alexandria, Egypt, was asked to do the same. After three weeks, the student analysis was done through pie charts, bar graph and conclusion was drawn out about the eating habits. A student forum discussion was held with the partner school based on the topic of healthy eating habits and saying no to junk food. This activity was conducted through online resources via Skype. Students exchanged their views on eating habits and the hazards of eating junk food and took part in the activity enthusiastically. — TNS
