Dr Inderjit is Punjabi varsity Registrar

Dr Inderjit Singh, senior professor of Department of Economics, has been named as the Registrar of Punjabi University, Patiala. Dr Inderjit is likely to assume the charge on Tuesday.
He will replace Dr Devinder Singh who has been facing criticism for past some time due to his proximity with former Vice-Chancellor Jaspal Singh.
Dr Inderjit is serving the university since 1990, when he joined the Department of Economics. He started his teaching career from Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib, and has also served in Thapar College, Patiala, which has now acquired the status of university.
Gold medalist in post-graduation and merit record holder of the Department of Economics of Punjabi University, Dr Singh later also served as Head of the Department.
He has supervised several students for completion of PhD degree. His father, Dr Gurdev Singh Sidhu, was a renowned Persian language scholar and also served as Head of Punjabi Department in Punjabi University.
Dr Inderjit said “He will follow the good traditions of the university and wash out the alleged corruption from the institution.”
