The Jat quota stir having reached the national Capital caused severe traffic jams on arterial roads today.

There were also reports of damage to public property by the protesters who blocked major border entry points, including Sindhu border, Nangloi-Bahadurgarh Road, Karnal Road, Tikari, Madhuban Chowk and Jharoda in south-west and outer Delhi. This caused heavy traffic jams which affected several parts of the city.

The police said the situation was brought under control even as demonstrations were held at several places, including Nangloi, Madhuban Chowk, Narela and Najafgarh. The police had deployed several of its companies in Najafgarh and its adjoining areas to handle the protests.

The protests led to diversion of traffic with several roads leading to neighbouring Haryana having been blocked by the agitators, a police officer said.

There were also reports of some damage to public property, including buses, in some areas, he said.

"All major roads are severely affected with Madhuban Chowk having been blocked by the demonstrators," said another police officer.
