DSGMC decries merger move of Punjab & Sind Bank

Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) announced protest against the Government of India’s decision to merge Punjab and Sind Bank with Bank of Baroda. DSGMC president Manjit Singh GK has arranged an assembly of well-informed persons to discuss on this topic on December 29 at the committee office.
GK showed his concern on the government decision to destroy the existence of Punjab and Sind Bank.
GK further said Punjab and Sind Bank actually lead the precious heritage of the presidency of Punjab and Sind. Veer Singh, S Trilochan Singh and Sundar Singh Majithia were called the founder of bank at registered office in Amritsar and main office in Lahore started with deposit amount Rs 10 lakh in 1908 before the Partition.
After the Partition, the registered office of the bank certainly lied in Amritsar, but administrative office was established in New Delhi, he said.
GK reminded the stands of banking facilities took from former chairman of bank Dr Inderjit Singh for the needy villagers specially farmers of Punjab and said when another banks got aside to open their branch in Punjab, Dr Singh not even opened bank’s new branches, in fact he gave jobs and business opportunity to the people of Punjab.
