The city police issued sketches of two dacoits, who allegedly committed a robbery in the house of a retired senior Army officer on last Sunday night.
The police claimed that investigating teams had got some vital clues that would prove beneficial in cracking the case. However, no arrest had been made so far.
According to information, Maj Gen Lalji D Singh (retd), a resident of Donga village, informed the police yesterday that two armed dacoits had broken into his house on Sunday night and held his wife, and other members of the family captive.
The dacoits ransacked the house and tied them with ropes in order to avoid any resistance from them. They abducted a teenage daughter of their housemaid, and threatened them not to call the police before 11 am, else they would kill the girl.
The abducted girl returned home early Monday morning. She alleged that the accused raped her. The robbers took away cash, jewellery worth thousands of rupees, and two mobile phones.
SSP Sadanand Datte said police teams had got vital clues with the help of a dog squad and fingerprint experts. The case would be solved soon, he added.
