Shimla, May 15

After raising the issue of delay in completion of the Theog — Hatkoti road project, the BJP state vice-president and former minister Narender Bragata today alleged that the local villagers were not being taken into confidence for construction of the edit tunnel on Sawra Kuddu hydro power project in Thana village of the Jubbal area in Shimla district.

In a statement issued here, he said the state government was trying to construct the tunnel forcefully, without talking to the local villagers and horticulturists.

Taking a dig at the Congress party, he said on one hand the All-India Congress Committee (AICC) Vice-President Rajiv Gandhi was posing like a true well wisher of farmers and on the other, the state government was unconcerned towards the problems of agriculturists.

Accusing the government of converting the village into a police fort, Bragata said the tunnel could be constructed by taking the locals into confidence and giving adequate compensation for the damage. — TNS
