Mohammed Shafi sworn in as MLA

Jammu, March 13

Governor NN Vohra administered to Mohammed Shafi the oath of MLA during a ceremony held in Raj Bhawan here this afternoon.

In exercise of powers conferred on him under Section 64 of the Constitution, the Governor had appointed Shafi as the person before whom MLAs could make and subscribe the oath or affirmation set out in the Fifth Schedule.

Shafi had been appointed as the pro-tem Speaker to discharge the functions of the Speaker till the election to the post was held by the Assembly.

Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Syed Basharat Bukhari, Principal Secretaries to Governor Rakesh K Gupta and Pradip K Tripathi, Law Secretary Mohammad Ashraf Mir and Assembly Secretary Mohammad Ramzan were present.
