Sihag has completed his masters in police administration. He said he had pursued this degree to upgrade his knowledge about the new laws and procedures introduced in the profession.

“Our police training in 1988 was not as intense as what the department is providing to those being recruited these days,” he said.

Satnam Singh, a Sub-Inspector with the Chandigarh Police, will also be getting a degree as he has done MPhil from the same department, securing the second position.

He said he had joined the police department in 2005 but continued to pursue studies with the hope that one day it would help him in career progression.

“If the department permits me, I will like to share the knowledge I got through this course with my colleagues,” he said.

Another student, Ramandeep Kaur, who is undergoing training with the Police Department is also among the students who will receive their degrees tomorrow.
