Even after 27 months, ‘Chautala road’ remains incomplete

The project to widen and strengthen the ‘Chautala road’, a link road between Chhajpur and Sewah village, which connects the Panipat-Haridwar highway with NH-1 has been waiting for completion after 27 months of the CM’s announcement.
The link road plays an important role to reduce the flow of heavy traffic on the Sanauli road, which passed through the city.
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had announced widening of the Chhaajpur-Siwah road during his first visit on December 20, 2014 at Panipat. After 13 months of the CM’s announcement, the work was started on January 12, 2016, and only 50 per cent of the work has been completed in the last 14 months.
“The estimated cost of 8.5 km road project is Rs 13,32,65,227. The department has fixed the target to complete the project in18-month time,” the sources said.
The slow pace of work has forced the commuters to face the dusty travelling.
Alisher, a resident of Sewah village, said the construction work was stopped for the last two three months and commuters were forced to face problems due to stones lying on the road.
Pradeep Atri, XEN, PWD (B&R) said, almost 50 per cent work of the project has been completed and the project would be completed with in time frame of 18 months.
