Charkhi Dadri, January 5
Peeved at irregular drinking water supply and shortage of electricity in the newly formed district, local Congress party workers, led by former Minister Satpal Sangwan, today held a protest in the city.
Protesters raised slogans against BJP government for not taking care of people’s needs; they later handed over a memorandum to the Naib Tehsildar addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
Talking to mediapersons, the former Dadri MLA said the district had been given a step-motherly treatment by the government and its share of water was being given to neighbouring district Mahendergarh.
Alleging that the government was biased against the new district, he said the Dadri district, which was on the path to progress under the previous government, had been neglected on all fronts.
“Forget providing district headquarter-level facilities, people of Dadri were even made to fight for their basic needs like drinking water and electricity,” said Sangwan. He alleged that people in villages were living in a pitiable condition and the government had not bothered yet to look into their problems.
