Art workshop celebrates beauty of Himalayas

Around 11 noted artists assembled at a hotel in Mussoorie to celebrate the pristine beauty of Himalayas through their paintings on canvas in an art and painting workshop on the theme “Colours of Himalayas” in Mussoorie today.

The workshop was organised under the aegis of the Uttarakhand Cultural Department in association with the Uttarakhand Artist Welfare Association in Mussoorie.

The secretary of the association Sonika Agarwal said as the state does not have its own collection of the artwork, it was decided to present the artworks completed in the workshop to the Culture Department.

The association’s treasurer Vikas Saxena said a workshop of artists from SAARC countries was organised by the association.

Artists Kanchan Chadar and Gogi Saroj Pal said more such workshops should be organised in the town, which brought out creativity of artists, so that artists from across the country are able to showcase their talent at one place. Artists Anjum Khan, Jagdish Dey, Jai Jahrotiam Maitrey Kar, MS Rawat, Nilanjana Nandey, Prakash Patil, Shekh Hifjul and others were present on the occasion. The workshop will go on till March 14.
