An official’s brave attempt

The ammonia gas tragedy that struck at Doraha recently, has shaken everyone, especially the residents who ran trying to save their lives. As soon as the news of gas leakage spread, the higher-ups too rushed to the spot to know the gravity of situation. A higher official accompanying other officials reached the spot but a few minutes later, he realised that no one was carrying a mask and it could prove dangerous. The official removed his shirt, tore it off and made a mask out of the cloth. All others accompanied with the official were also given a piece of the shirt to cover their faces. The quick thinking of official was appreciated by all.

Protest or ‘tamasha’

The protest against the Municipal Corporation by the Congress party, led by MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, earlier this week, turned out to be more of a publicity stunt rather than a focused protest against failure of the civic body in the delivery of basic amenities and providing infrastructure to the city residents. In the din of the protesting Congressmen clashing with policemen and the MC employees watching from inside the locked gates, the real issues that concerned the people were pushed to the background. The Congress party could have done more service to the city residents by presenting a memorandum to the MC functionaries on pathetic condition of roads, poor infrastructure and inadequate water and sewerage facilities rather than indulging in publicity gimmick like attempt to lock up the MC office which served no purpose.

Caught on the wrong foot

Though many people held protests just as an opportunity to get in the news and for photo opportunities, but the steps they take often boomerang. In some of the protests held earlier by some political parties recently, many of the workers realised that some of these exercises were futile and many a times, they are caught on the wrong foot in the pictures.

Bad reminder!

Recently, one of my friends was chucked out of the friends list by a minister on his Facebook account. When asked about the reason behind the unceremonious exit from the minister’s friend list, he said his comments haven’t gone done well with the minister. He said he reminded the minister of his recent promise to launch buses which could not only travel on the road but also on water. After the reminder, he was removed from the friend list of the minister.
