“You can see that the road in front of our house has submerged under two-foot-deep water and the drainage system is not working. Due to this, we can’t even venture out of our houses,” said Wattan Singh, president of TDI Residents’ Association in Sector 118, here.

SP Singh, a resident of the locality, claimed that the resident felt as if they had been put under house arrest. “Our children are not going to schools. Adding insult to injury, sewage has mixed with rainwater. Due to it, foul smell has started emanating from it,” claimed SP Singh.

The residents claimed that they had contacted the management of the housing project a number of times for the redressal of the problem but to no avail.

When contacted, a senior official of the project, admitted that they had laid a proper drainage system but the authorities concerned were yet to provide a proper outlet. “We have installed two pumps for draining out of the accumulated water. The problem will be solved soon,” said the official.
