The Wings Theatre Academy of Vivek High School, Chandigarh, has been selected to perform at the International Children’s Theatre Festival, Jashn-e-Bachpan, a nine-day festival starting from November 17 at New Delhi.

The festival is being conducted by the National School of Drama (NSD), the premier theatre institution of the country. The selected play, ‘She Stood Up’, is written, designed and directed by Zubin Mehta and produced, in collaboration with Vivek High school, Chandigarh, with students between the age group of six and 12 years.

The play is simple, realistic and relatable story of two girls and comes with a message of motivation, courage to stand up for what is right and breaking gender stereotypes from an early age and revolves around women empowerment to some extent.

Zubin Mehta said, “It has always been our dream to perform at festivals conducted by the National School of Drama. This is the first time we applied and I am glad that they liked our work.”

He said, “In total, 24 plays are being staged by theatre groups from Kerala, Gujarat, Chandigarh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Switzerland, Sri Lanka and Indonesia.”

Tops aero quiz

Chandigarh: Vivek High School, Sector 38, bagged the top position in an aero-quiz organised for school students by the Chandigarh chapter of the Aeronautical Society of India here on Friday. Air Force School 3 BRD, Sector 31, was the runners-up.

A total of 16 teams participated in the event, of which four teams made it to the final. The quiz covered topics such as history of aviation, Indian Air Force and current commercial and technical trends in aviation. The aim was to spread awareness about aviation sector and highlight various career options in this field among the young generation.
