Assistant prof Neelima Dhingra, pharmaceutical chemistry, University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Panjab University, has been conferred upon with “Bharat Ratna Mother Teresa Gold Medal Award-2018” for her outstanding achievement in education and research.

She was honoured with a gold medal, a trophy and a certificate. The award was given to her by Global Economic Progress and Research Association, Tamil Nadu, in Chennai on December 22.

There were 25 awardees from various states and categories. Neelima was selected from Punjab for her contributions in the field of science.

She is a medicinal chemist and her major area of research is designing (QSAR) and synthesises of new chemical entities while working on molecular biology and pharmacology of hormone-dependent cancers — prostate or breast or lung.
