UT Sports Dept gets new Director

Chandigarh, August 8 

The UT Administration appointed Tejdeep Singh Saini, joint commissioner, Municipal Corporation, as the new director sports on Wednesday.

He will replace Captain Karnail Singh, who was repatriated to his parent state, Punjab, after a period of two years as the head of the sports department. “It was a challenging job and I am happy to complete it with the help of all the coaches and other subordinates. I wish all the best to the new director. The department has seen some rough phases and we overcame all hurdles to achieve success,” said Karnail Singh. 

Recently, the department hogged the limelight with the opening of various sports complexes. However, the long pending demand of promotions of coaches remained unsolved during his tenure.—TNS
