Tribune Model, Chandigarh
The Fine Arts Department of Tribune Model School organised a one-day art workshop for students of Class VII. The resource person on the occasion was Deepshikha, painter and curator, who shared her expertise in decoupage on terracotta plates. Students learnt the technique of tearing patterns from delicate tissue papers and used them to decorate plates. All plates will be displayed during Kala Sangam, an annual art exhibition of Tribune Model School.
Moti Ram Arya Sr Sec, Chandigarh
Little sports champions of Moti Ram Arya Senior Secondary Model School, Sector 27-A, won the title of best team in the Inter City Taekwondo Martial Arts Little Champ and UCTC Cup Taekwondo Championship held at Garwal Bhawan, Sector 29-A. They brought laurels to the school by winning four gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze medals.
MDAV, Chandigarh
Disaster club of MDAV, Sector 22-A ,organised a mock drill to spread awareness among the staff and students on how to handle situation in case of an earthquake, outbreak of fire and so on. The staff was briefed on dos and don’ts in such situations. Teachers well prepared to act proactively in case of occurrence of any disaster. The exit and entry points were pointed out during the briefing to the staff and students on the occasion.
New Public School, Chandigarh
The Innerwheel Club, Chandigarh Central, organised Innerwheel Young Leaders Awards (IYLA) at New Public School, Sector 18. The award show was held to polish skills of budding leaders. Around 24 kids from different schools participated in self defence, first-aid training and sessions on honing personality traits. The event was inaugurated by Dr Sukhmani Riar and Dr GK Bedi, Dr Sunaina Jain, professor of English, MCM DAV College for Women and Shreya Goel, an advocate. IIM associate Roohani Sawhney and IW member Tejinder Saini were judges for the declamation. Ritu Singal, the woman entrepreneur of the year, shared her experience on the occasion. Students also pledged to use water with care.
Doon International, Mohali
The finale of Mrs India Punjab Pageant, a platform for all married women from Punjab and adjoining areas , which aims to promote beauty, talent, culture and glamour, was held at at Ramada Plaza, Chandigarh. After strenuous workshops, women were judged on the basis of their confidence and their inner beauty. Under classic category, Manjeet, Principal, Doon International School, Mohali, was adjudged first runners up. Deepali Phadnis, national director, Mrs India , and Jyoti Rupaal, director, Mrs India Punjab, motivated all contestants. The queens were given crown.
SATLUJ PUBLIC, Panchkula
On the World Migratory Bird Day, an educational trip was organised for students of Classes V to IX as a part of beyond the classroom learning activity. Students visited Sukhna Lake to observe migratory birds and aquatic vegetation. Teachers explained to students the spirit of living in harmony with nature, importance of birds in our life and their vital ecological role. TNS
