The singer duo, Manjeet Nikki and Anadi Mishra, delighted a large crowd of visitors on the third day of the 10th Chandigarh National Crafts Mela at Kalagram here on Sunday.
The event has been organised by the Chandigarh administration and the North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala, in association with The Tribune Group of Publications.
Nikki, brought alive the melodic grace, twang and rustic touch of Punjabi folklore with elan. Be it ‘jugni’, ‘mitti da bawa’, ‘ratti dhol’, ‘mirza’, she danced straight to the hearts of the audience. Trained in classical music under Prof Saubhgay Vardhan Brahspati, she also rendered hit Punjabi numbers ‘boohe baariyan’, ‘aa gya vanjara’ and many more.
Anadi Mishra displayed brilliance in classical, Sufi, folk and Bollywood music. As a salutation to rich classical music heritage, Anadi opened up a ‘bandish’ ‘Varni na jaye’ in ‘raga abhogi’ before turning to other music formats. He sang popular numbers such as ‘kadi aa mil sanwal yaar’, ‘mere rashke qamar’, ‘tumhein dil lagi bhool jani padegi’, ‘chhalla’, ‘rab da deedar’ and ‘doli vs athru’ among others.
