In a bizarre turn of events, security persons were called to a courtroom after a rat was spotted when proceedings were under way on Wednesday.
As per information, the personal security officer of the judge called the Chandigarh police’s security staff of the courtroom to take care of it. Not just this, even personnel from the Quick Response Team (QRT) vehicle, which is parked outside the courts, were summoned.
The security staff informed that this was a one-off incident as they had never been called for such matters before. However, by the time they arrived, the rat was nowhere in sight.
The court staff informed that while rats were not very commonly seen in courtrooms, they keep their files and other documents safely.
It has previously been reported that dogs are also present in large numbers inside the court complex. They can be seen lazing around during the day in the parking area and the area between the service block and the courts. There is a danger of canines as well, as many a times they indulge in fights among themselves.
Another being that has made the court complex their home are pigeons. Many pigeons have made nests in balconies, and nooks and corners of the court complex. Others have taken to broken false ceilings outside some courtrooms for this.
