Randhawa to compete in Players C’ship

Some of the top golfers from India and abroad will feature in the TATA Steel PGTI Players Championship, which tees off at the Panchkula Golf Club here on Tuesday.
The Indian challenge will be spearheaded by Rashid Khan, who is currently placed second in the Order of Merit.
Veteran Jyoti Randhawa, who will also be a part of the 123-member field, is playing his first tournament at the club.
Some of the other Indian contenders in the fray include Chiragh Kumar, Honey Baisoya, Udayan Mane and young Kshitij Naveed Kaul.
Sri Lanka’s N Thangaraja, who won the last PGTI event at the venue in February 2015, along with Anura Rohana, Mithun Perera, K Prabagaran and Bangladesh’s Moahammad Zamal Hossain Mollah will represent the foreign challenge.
Australia’s Kunal Bhasin will also feature in the Rs 30-lakh championship.
The competition will be spiced up by the presence of local lads Karandeep Kochhar and Aadil Bedi.
Veteran Harendra Gupta and Harmeet Kahlon and talented Akshay Sharma, Abhijit Singh Chadha, Angad Cheema and Yuvraj Singh Sandhu will also compete in the eighth event of the TATA Steel PGTI’s 2019 season.
“We are delighted to return to the Panchkula Golf Club after a gap of four years,” said PGTI CEO Uttam Singh Mundy. “The introduction of Official World Golf Ranking points on the PGTI this year has resulted in intense competition on the Tour,” he added.
Local challenge
Karandeep Kochhar, Aadil Bedi, Harendra Gupta, Harmeet Kahlon, Akshay Sharma, Abhijit Singh Chadha, Angad Cheema, Yuvraj Singh Sandhu, Amritinder Singh, Ranjit Singh and Gurbaaz Mann will be in the fray at Panchlula Golf Club.
