Dr Amit Bahl, Additional Professor, Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology, PGIMER, Chandigarh, has been awarded the prestigious “International Innovation Grant” for 2019 by the American Society of Clinical Oncology for research work in head and neck cancers.

Dr Bahl was selected for the grant by an international panel of oncology experts. The grant is given for need-based and innovative research work in oncology and supports research proposals that have the potential to impact cancer care. Head and neck cancers are one of the most common cancers in our country. This research project will focus on reduction of treatment related toxicities in head and neck cancer patients undergoing chemo-radiotherapy treatment and will help improve their quality of life. — TNS
