PEC’s highest package is Rs39 lakh

Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh, leads the way in placements with the highest package offered so far this year being Rs 39 lakh per annum.
“In the category of domestic recruiters, we have breached last year’s record of the highest package of Rs 34 lakh per annum. This year, it is Rs 39 lakh per annum,” said Dr Divya Bansal, head, Career Development and Guidance Centre, PEC. The process of international recruitments is on.
The median salary so far is Rs 7.98 lakh, while according to the National Institutional Ranking Framework, 2019, report of PEC, it was Rs 6.5 lakh in 2017-18 and Rs 6.3 lakh in 2016-17. So, there is an upward trend.
About 80 per cent students have been placed in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). “In other branches, we have reached up to 50 per cent placements. By next semester, we are hopeful of having a higher percentage of students placed from the previous batch,” said Dr Bansal.
If we analyse the PEC placement data branch-wise, after the CSE, which has a median salary of Rs 10.5 lakh, it is ECE at Rs 7 lakh, Mechanical Engineering at Rs 6.53 lakh, Electrical Engineering at Rs 6.5 lakh and Civil at Rs 6.25 lakh, while Aerospace, Metallurgy and Production are at Rs 6 lakh each.
