One booked for trying to get passport using P’kula man’s certificate

The local police have booked an unidentified person for using Sector 25 resident’s Matriculation certificate to get a passport in his name.
In his complaint to the police, Sohan Lal, a resident of Kendriya Vihar, Sector 25, stated that he had applied for renewal of his passport and submitted documents along with the passport at the Sector 34 passport office.
He said officials at the passport office informed him that someone with identified as Sushil had already applied for the passport in the name of Sohan Lal by using his Class X certificate. However, the said person never turned up for the interview, officials added.
Lal said officials also told him that they cannot renew his passport till the matter was cleared in the police investigation. He also submitted documents of the suspect to police along with his complaint.
“I applied for the renewal of passport in December last year as I wanted to send my sons for study in the US. As per the US law parents also have to stay with their children till they attain the age of 16. That’s why I applied for renewal of my passport,” Lal added.
A case has been registered against unidentified person under Sections 419, 420, 467, 468 and 471, IPC, at the Chandimandir police station in this connection and further investigation is on.
