Vanshika to Represent India
Chandigarh: Vanshika Thakur of MCM DAV College, Sector 36, has been selected to represent the nation in the Asian Youth Netball Championship, to be held in Japan, from June 27 onwards. The Indian team is currently attending the preparation camp in Bathinda. Vanshika practices under Coach Rahul Yadav. GMSSS-26 win a low-scoring tie
Chandigarh: In the ongoing 2nd Beat the Heat U-15 Cricket Tournament, Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 26, academy defeated TKB Academy, Kharar, by 18 runs, here today. Batting first, the Sector 26 team bundled out on 74 runs in 16.1 overs. Divpreet Singh (18) was the only main scorer for the side. Sahil Inderjit Singh (3/15) and Paras (2/7) were the two main wicket takers for the bowling side. In reply, the Kharar team were all out at 56 runs in 16 overs . Tennis meet from June 8
Chandigarh: Sunrise Tennis Academy (STA) will organise a local open tennis tournament for boys and girls from June 8 to 9 at Chandigarh Club, Sector 1. The championship will be organised in U-10, 12 ,14 and 16 (singles) categories. The interested players can confirm their entry at the tournament venue before June 7. TNS
Bihar win cricket c’ship
Panchkula: Bihar beat UAE by six runs to win the 33rd All India Shaheed Bhagat Singh U-16 Trophy, here today. Batting first, Bihar posted 167/9 in 25 overs with the help of Vicky Anand (45), Rahul Rattan (41) and Ashwani (29). Chris Sequeria (4/32) was the pick of the bowlers, while Mohd Khan (2/13) and Sanchit Sharma (2/31) were the other two main wicket takers for the bowling side. In reply, UAE scored 161/ 8 in 25 overs. Lovepreet Singh (72), Sanchit Sharma (21) and Youvraj Barua (18) were the three main scorers for the side. Rahul Rattan (2/34), Monu (2/33) and Amit (2/36) share wickets. In the semifinals, Bihar beat Haryana by two wickets and UAE defeated Chennai by 9 wickets. TNS
