Health Dept spots 30 high-risk dengue-prone areas in city

In a bid to curb dengue menace in the city, the Health Department has identified 30 high-risk areas on the basis of last year’s dengue outbreak.
The high-risk areas include Ranjit Nagar, Anand Nagar, Model town, Partap Nagar, Badungar, Government Medical College, Rajindra Hospital, Lahori Gate and Guru Nanak Nagar. In total, 190 spots have been identified as dengue prone areas in the city. The health officials said they had given details of these areas to the civic body.
Dr Sumeet, District Epidemiologist, said due to untimely rain last week, the possibility of vector-borne disease has increased.
Today, the Health Department officials held a meeting with its local wing and and the civic body workers and sensitised them
about dengue.
The department concerned has already issued directions to the MC to prepare an action plan to prevent an outbreak.
Civil Surgeon Dr Manjit Singh said, “We have sought cooperation from other departments to collectively fight dengue menace. We will be putting extra efforts in the high-risk areas.”
