Nagar kirtan reaches city

The nagar kirtan that commenced from Nankana Sahib in Pakistan to celebrate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak was given a warm welcome by a large number of devotees on Tuesday.

Devotees thronged the devised route for the nagar kirtan, which entered the city from Nabha road, and installed welcome gates at numerous locations. Flags bearing the ‘khanda’ were installed along the route. — TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
