Chandigarh: Minerva Punjab FC signed Minsk based Belarusian striker Dzmitry Kowb for the upcoming season of I-League. The 30-year-old striker last played for JK Narva Trans in Estonian. He scored 10 goals in 14 appearances for the Narva-based team. He had also played in Belarus Premier League at FC Vitebsk, FC Dnepr Mogilev, FC Minsk and in A Lyga (Lithuania’s top division) for FK Trakai. 

Tennis meet from October 1

Mohali:Roots Tennis Academy will organise the AITA-Champion Series (CS7) U-16 Championship from October 1 to 6. The qualifying matches will be held on October 1 followed by main draw matches from October 2. Interested players can confirm their entries with the organisers before September 29

Int’l Marathon on Dec 10

Chandigarh: The 1st International Chandigarh Marathon will be held at the Capitol Complex here on December 10. The categories are: Indian and international (men and women), 40+ years and 60+ years age groups. There will be a 3km run for school children, a 5km run for females and a wheelchair race. A three-day marathon expo will also be organised at Leisure Valley, Sector 10, from December 7 to 9. A two-day special Marathon Clinic will also be organised by Asian Gold Medalist Dr Sunita Godara.

Livewire beat GM Traders

Chandigarh: Livewire Red defeated GM Traders by 110 runs in the My Country My Love T20 Cricket Championship. Livewire boys scored 158/3 in 20 overs with the help of Harvinder Nain (84) and Jaspal (28). Avtar Singh (2/32) was the pick of the bowlers. In reply, Traders team was bundled out for 48 runs in 10.1 overs. Only Vinod (24) could make a decent contribution with the bat. Kamal Joshi (3/19) and Harvinder Singh (2/11) claimed wickets for the Livewire team. — TNS
