Lecture dwells on legacy of scientists from Punjab

A special lecture on the “Legacy of scientists of Punjab” was delivered by former Vice-Chancellor (VC), Panjab University, Prof AK Grover, at Punjabi University, here today. The lecture was organised by Punjabi University with the help of the Indian Science Congress Association.
While addressing the participants, Prof Grover explained about the scientific and academic heritage of Punjab in detail. He said, “Punjab has a proud and satisfying legacy of scientists, including CV Raman, Ruchi Ram Sahni (India’s first botanist, scientist), Birbal Sahni, Hargobind Khurana, Pandit Gurditt Student, Kartar Singh Bawa, Kamaljit Singh Bawa and others.”
“The upcoming generation needs to be apprised about such heritage to ensure that they take keen interest in scientific fields,” he added.
The Vice-Chancellor (VC), Punjabi University, Prof BS Ghuman said, “The message of heritage and culture of the region is delivered to the people through such lectures. Students get enthusiastic to work towards society after hearing such lectures.”
