Khalsa College wins overall trophy in youth festival

The three-day colourful and exciting cultural bonanza came to an end with Khalsa College, Patiala, clinching the overall trophy in the golden jubilee year of Punjabi University Inter-Zonal Youth Festival at the Guru Tegh Bahadur Hall here today.

Guru Nanak College, Budladha, a college in the remote area of Punjab, remained the runners-up in the event.

VC BS Ghuman was the chief guest. While honouring a former Chemistry Professor at his alma mater, Panjab University, Chandigarh, Dr Surinder Sharma, a renowned Punjabi film star of yesteryears, Ghuman dubbed him having changed the chemistry of Punjabi film world. His versatility had been unmatchable in ways more than one having made the Punjabi film industry a panorama of visual artistry, he said. Khalsa College, Patiala, made a history by winning the overall trophies in music and dance as well. — TNS
