Jasnoor sets the pool on fire

Mohali swimmer Jasnoor Kaur clinched three gold medals on the opening day of the Punjab State swimming championship at Panjab University Campus here on Monday.

Jasnoor clocked 1.27:52 to win a gold medal in the 100m butterfly competition, while she topped the podium in the 50m freestyle event with a timing of 30:71s to clinch her second gold of the day. Jasnoor bagged another gold medal in the 200m freestyle competition. She clocked 2.31:25 to dominate the field. 

Meanwhile, Patiala’s Chetanya (1.28:51) claimed the silver medal, while Dhriti (1.35:70), also from Patiala, returned with the bronze medal in the 100m butterfly event.

In 50m freestyle, Jasnoor was followed by Mohali’s Arshpreet Kaur (32:27) and Jalandhar’s Tejaswani (33:42) in second and third positions, respectively. 

Patiala’s Chetanya (2.38:56) won the silver, while Diya Soni (3.12:62) bagged the bronze medal in the 200m freestyle competition. 

Twin titles for Arshpreet

Arshpreet, meanwhile, clocked 1.24:47 to win the 100m backstroke gold. Chetanya (1.26:47) clinched the silver, while Tanisha Soni (1.35:51) bagged the bronze medal. 

Arshpreet also topped the podium in the 100m breaststroke event. She clocked 1.29:84 to beat Chetanya (1.32:01). Mohali’s Disha Thakur (1.33:46) returned home with the bronze medal. 

In the 4x100m relay, Mohali swimmers clocked 6.10:03 to claim the gold medal. Patiala (6.17:59) finished second, while Jalandhar (7.06:42) bagged the third spot.
