Garhshankar boys beat GHG College 3-1

Chandigarh, November 15

Garhshankar based BAM Khalsa College came from behind to stun GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, 3-1 and advance to the league stage of the Panjab University inter-college football championship after a four year hiatus.  

GHG boys struck early and maintained the lead in the first half as Garhshankar footballers found it difficult to penetrate the Khalsa College defence.

BAM College, though, pulled their socks up after the break and finally restored the parity in 52nd minute.

GHG boys got a couple of chances to regain the lead, but they failed on each occasion. With the sides tied 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes, the match was forced into the extra time.

Garhshankar boys struck in the first 15 minutes of the extra time to take a 2-1 lead and them pumped in another goal after short interval to finish with a 3-1 win   

In another match, DAV College, Hoshiarpur, blanked Panjab University Campus 3-0. 

SGGS Khalsa College, Mahilpur, drubbed Malwa College, Bondli, 2-0, while Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26, registered a 3-0 win over Post Graduate Government College, Sector 11, to become the last team to qualify for the league stages. — TNS
