Ambala, July 27
After a recent clash between the members of two notorious gangs - Lawrence Bishnoi and Bhupi Rana gangs - on the premises of the Central Jail, Ambala, in which several inmates and four policemen suffered injuries, Bhupi Rana has been shifted from the Central Jail to the Jhajjar jail.
He was shifted to the Jhajjar jail recently and the jail administration has sought the shifting of some more inmates from the Central Jail so that law and order could be maintained inside the jail.
On July 11, some inmates were taken to a local court for hearing in different cases where members of both groups had a verbal spat. However, the situation was controlled there. Later in the evening, around 40-45 inmates belonging to the Lawrence gang came out of their block after pushing the warders and ran towards centre 24. After pushing the warders there, they entered centre 24 after climbing the wall and attacked the inmates belonging to the Bhupi Rana gang with bricks, stones and sticks.
Meanwhile, members of the Bhupi Rana gang also came out. Members of both gangs started thrashing each other. Following the incident, emergency alarm was sounded and senior officials were informed about it.
According to information, there are at least 80-85 hardcore gangsters, including those belonging to the Bhupi Rana and Lawrence Bishnoi gangs, in the Central Jail, Ambala. They keep fighting for supremacy inside and outside the jail.
Jail Superintendent Lakhbir Singh said: “Bhupi Rana was shifted a few days ago. We have sought shifting of some more inmates too belonging to both gangs.”
A case was registered under Sections 148, 149, 186, 323, 332 and 353 of the IPC and Section 42 of the Prisons Act against 84 inmates belonging to both gangs.
