Dr Rajesh Dhir is Chandigarh IMA chief

Dr Rajesh Dhir took over as president of the Chandigarh chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) here today. A ceremony was held in this regard at the IMA auditorium in Sector 35.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Dhir stressed upon the need for IMA members to uphold the dignity of the medical profession and to constantly work towards protecting the interests of doctors and community at large.
He assured that he would take the issue of forming
a Chandigarh Medical Council further on the pattern of Punjab/Haryana Medical Council. He said it was important to have a council for the simplification of registration and other related issues of the doctors.
Dr Dhir said preference would be given to the weaker section of society, especially those residing in urban slums and colonies, for holding health camps in order to provide benefits under various national health programmes. This way support would be provided to the UT Administration to improve the status of the health parameters in Chandigarh.
He also expressed gratitude towards all members of the IMA for posing faith in him and for choosing him as president of the association.
