DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, defeated St. Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, by nine wickets to claim the inter-school cricket championship here today.

Batting first, St. Joseph’s were all out for a below par 46 in 11 overs as DAV attack led by Gyan made regular inroads into their line-up. 

Gyan claimed three wickets, while Nishunk bagged two wickets. Abhiraj (21) was the top scorer for St. Joseph’s.

In reply, DAV boys scampered home with nine wickets to spare. Sahil scored 18 runs, while Jashan Beniwal contributed 17 runs to the chase. 

Aryan was the lone wicket taker for St. Joseph’s.

GMSSS-19 spikers win 

Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 19, came from behind to beat Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 47, 24-26 25-11 25-9 in the ongoing inter-school U-19 volleyball championship here today. 

In the second match, Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 27, blanked Shishu Niketan School, Sector 22, 25-16 25-05. 

Sri Guru Gobind Singh Collegiate School, Sector 26, overwhelmed Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 23, 25-14 25-8, while Moti Ram Arya Senior Secondary School, Sector 27, registered a 24-26 25-15 25-22 win over Guru Nanak Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Sector 30, in the last match of the day. 

DAV shuttlers triumph

DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, defeated AKSIPS, Sector 41, 2-0 to win the boys’ U-19 inter-school badminton championship here today. 

In the first match, DAV’s Ankit rallied from a game down to stun Mayank of AKSIPS.

Ankit lost the opening game 14-21, but clawed his way back into the match with a 21-15 win in the second. He then humbled his opponent 21-9 to provide his side a 1-0 lead. 

Talwinder then blanked Nishant 21-11 21-9 to ensure an easy win for DAV Senior Secondary School. 

Sri Guru Gobind Singh Collegiate School, Sector 26, meanwhile registered a 2-0 win over Shri Guru Gobind Singh Senior Secondary School, Sector 35. 

Devesh got the better of Harshvandhan, while Shivam overcame Jaskaran 21-5 13-21 21-16.     

GNPS girls emerge winners

Guru Nanak Public School (GNPS), Sector 36, defeated Government Girls Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 20, 19-13 in the girls’ U-19 inter-school netball championship here today. 

In another match, The British School, Sector 44, defeated Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 32, 19-4.

Meanwhile, in boys’ U-19 category, DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, beat Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 20, 14-11, while Sri Guru Gobind Singh Collegiate Public School, Sector 26, humbled Moti Ram School, Sector 27, 15-12.
