Chandigarh, February 3
The Central Reserve Police Force’s 51st Battalion commemorated the golden jubilee of its raising on its campus here today. The battalion was raised on this day at Ajmer in Rajasthan and has since served in various parts of the country, including Jammu and Kashmir, Chhattisgarh, Tripura and Assam. At present, it is deployed in Chandigarh for security and well as law and order purposes.
Padma Shri recipient Milkha Singh was the chief guest on the occasion. The battalion commandant, Nisar Mohamad, and other officers, jawans and their families were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Milkha Singh felicitated the battalion personnel on the unit’s anniversary and lauded efforts of the CRPF in maintaining the peace and security in the country.
