Classical vocalists bare intrinsic melody of ragas at Varsha Ritu Sangeet Sandhya

The Indian National Theatre in collaboration with Durga Dass Foundation organised a ‘Varsha Ritu Sangeet Sandhya’, a delightful evening of melodies based on ragas pertaining to rain at Strawberry Fields High School, Sector 26, here today.

Artistes of the evening were acclaimed maestros Jui Dhaygude Pande and USA- based Dr Aditya Sharma. The beautiful panoramic school ambience added to festive mood and uplifted the level performance level.

The managements of Indian National Theatre and Durga Das Foundation paid rich tribute to SD Bhambri (IAS retd) and former Chief Secretary, Haryana, and General Manager, The Tribune Group of Publications. Dr Aditya Sharma commenced his recital with raga Mian Malhar in Vilambit lya set to Tilwada tal. He rendered a composition ‘Ve Ata Dhoond Raho’ in Drut teental and another captivating bandish ‘Gher Aya Re Badarawa’ followed by a Tarana ‘ Udatana Nana Tana Derena’. He later presented a composition ‘ Sayian Mora Re’ in raga Gaud Malhar in Madhya lya teen tal. He embellished his recital with adroit mastery over swar, lya and tal and with Akar and bol tans.

The accomplished vocalist Jui Dhaygude Pande started her recital with Nat Malhar with bandish ‘Barakha Ritu Aayee’ in Vilambat lya, Rupak tal and ‘Pavan Chalat Meha Megh- Megha Shyam Ghan Sham’ in Drut lya teen tal. She concluded with a Thumri ‘Savan Ki Ritu Aayee’.

Both artistes were accompanied by Vinay Mishra on the harmonium, Mehmood and Avirbhav Verma on the tabla.Vocalist Vanita Gupta compared the programme.

General (Retd) VP Malik and Pt Yashpaul honoured artistes. Atul Khanna, director, Durga Das Foundation, expessed gratidue to chief guest, artistes and audience.
