A city resident received a rude shock as his Xiomi mobile phone burst into flames on Saturday morning.

Arvind Kumar claimed that he was in his office in Sector 29 here. He got a call on his Xiomi MI 4 around 10 am. Just before he picked up the phone, sparking followed by a small blast in the device set it on fire.

Arvind said the phone was purchased from an e-commerce website in September 2015 for Rs 13,000. It was used by a friend of his for a year and was with him for the past two years.

Arvind said he owns another mobile phone. So, he did not use this cell phone much. Fortunately, Arvind did not receive any burn or injury as he moved away from it on time.
