City golfer Aadil Bedi carded a total of 10-under 206 to win the SSG-BLR International Amateur Golf Championship at Jack Nicklaus Sea View Golf Course in Singapore, today.
Bedi shot 17 birdies in the three-day competition to emerge as the leader.
In the first round, Bedi shot seven birdies along with a double and a bogey to notch up four-under 68. He shot a 71 on Day 2, while he finished with an impressive five-under in the concluding round. It took the budding golfer 11 tournaments to register his first overseas win.
Bedi, who is a student of Vivek High School, Sector 38, was the only player to shot under-par rounds on all the three days.
Ng Ah Hock of Malaysia finished second, while Mohamed Redhza of Singapore was third.
“With my first overseas win I will improve my standing in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WGAR). At present, I am in top 900 golf players of the world,” said Bedi.
“This will also consolidate my entry in the inaugural Junior President Cup to be played from September 24 to 27 at the Plainfield Country Club in Edison, New Jersey,” he added. Bedi will be playing in six more WAGR events, including the one in July in the USA and two IGU Amateur Championships at Hyderabad and Coimbatore.
