Patiala, October 10
In an effort to bring back lost sheen of the famous Baradari Gardens, a project has been chalked out to give a facelift to Patiala’s historic place in a phased manner. The Punjab Chief Minister, Capt Amarinder Singh, and the local Member of Parliament (MP) Preneet Kaur are supervising the project closely.
The Patiala Deputy Commissioner (DC), Kumar Amit, visited Baradari Gardens along with Municipal Commissioner Poonamdeep Kaur and PWD officials today. The DC inspected the work to be undertaken at the garden and collected all details.
Later, the DC said, “In the first phase all barren trees will be replaced with new saplings. The work has been assigned to the Forest Department.”
“After cleaning Baradari Gardens, streetlights will be repaired. New lights and signboards will be installed, roads and outer wall also be repaired,” he added.
“The Chief Minister has directed to set up an open gym for the general public, who come here for a walk and exercising. Old fern house located at Baradari will also be opened for the public after repair,” he said.
“Two compost pits will be dug up for old dry leaves, monuments and figurines will be decorated with coloured lights, fountains will be repaired and their old look restored,” he added.
“Security guards will be deployed to prevent entry of anti-social elements into the Baradari Gardens,” he said.
