Auto-rickshaw hit by cab, turns turtle; four injured

An accident between an Ola cab and an auto was reported from the Sector 20/30 light point this morning. The auto turned turtle, leaving four persons, including the auto driver, injured.

The police said the complainant in the case, Ashok, a resident of Colony No. 4, Phase I, stated that he, along with his brother Gautam and nephew Rahul, was heading towards Sector 20 in an auto, which was being driven by Mohammad Arif.

When they reached the Sector 20/30 light point, a rashly driven cab, which was coming to the Sector 19/27/20/30 roundabout, hit the auto. The auto overturned. Passersby gathered at the spot and rescued the auto driver and three passengers. The police were informed and all injured were rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32.

The accident led to traffic snarls on the road for almost an hour. The police said the condition of all injured was stable. The cab was being driven by 31-year-old Amandeep Singh, who escaped unhurt.

A case under Sections 279 (rash driving) and 337 (causing hurt by an act endangering the life or personal safety of others) of the IPC has been registered against the cab driver at the Sector 19 police station. Both vehicles were impounded by the police.
