As the local police have yet to take action on two earlier complaints lodged by Kharar Municipal Council (MC) Executive Officer (EO) Rajesh Sharma regarding sanctioning of two maps and issuance of two NOCs for obtaining electricity connections using fake signatures another fake property tax receipt was detected at the office of the civic body here today.

Notably, in September two fake NOCs were detected by the MC staff, which were issued through fake signatures for getting electricity connections.

Similarly, two maps of residential houses were detected in October, which were also sanctioned using fake signatures. Complaint about these cases was lodged by the EO with the city police.

Now, another receipt of the payment of property tax at the MC office was found to be fake in an inquiry. According to information, a loan of Rs 47.38 lakh was sanctioned by a bank to Arvinder Singh of Kharar. The loan account became NPA and when bank officers visited the mortgaged property they found that someone else was living there. They complained about it to the district administration, which forwarded it to the Kharar MC.

On inquiry by the MC staff it was found that the receipt of property tax, which was enclosed at the time of registration of sale deed was fake.

The fake receipt with No. 646/98 for an amount of Rs 2,154 issued in the name of Sobha, a resident of Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar, showed property tax received on January 25, 2018. However, the original property tax receipt for Rs 2,154 was issued by the MC with the same number in the name of Amrik Singh, a resident of Sante Majra Colony, on December 15, 2017.

As the number and amount is same on both the receipts the involvement of some staff members close to the property tax branch of the MC cannot be ruled out.

Meanwhile, EO Rajesh Sharma has complained to the police for taking steps in this regard. He has demanded an inquiry into the matter and action against the person, who has prepared fake document of the MC.
