Anantveer Singh Badal, son of SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal and Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal, on Wednesday did his first solo political activity by opening election offices of party candidate from the Faridkot parliamentary constituency Gulzar Singh Ranike at Gidderbaha and Doda village.
Anantveer (17), a political greenhorn, looking bit shy like any other teenager, came to Gidderbaha and cut the ribbon of the party’s election office at a simple ceremony. It was attended by some party leaders and workers.
Thereafter, party leaders took him inside the office where SAD’s Gidderbaha constituency in-charge Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon introduced him with some party men.
Thereafter, a few of them even took selfies with him. However, acting like a politician, he entered and came out of the election office with his hands folded. But, he did not address party workers. He even touched the feet of some elderly, who gave him blessings in return.
On Anantveer’s visit, Dimpy Dhillon said, “We had especially invited Anantveer as we consider him as a lucky child. We had already told our party chief that he would just inaugurate the office and not address anyone. He is so young and don’t know much about the nitty-gritty of politics.”
He said, “Former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has served this constituency (Faridkot) as an MLA and Sukhbir Singh Badal as an MP. Anantveer’s visit can also be seen as following in their footsteps.”
Anantveer, however, did not interact with scribes.
Later, he visited Doda village where he also inaugurated the party’s election office. However, party candidate Gulzar Singh Ranike was conspicuous by his absence. So far, Ranike has visited the Gidderbaha Assembly constituency just once.
Notably on Tuesday, Anantveer had toured some parts of Bathinda district along with his uncle Bikram Singh Majithia.
