SSD Girls College chosen the best by Pbi university

SSD Girls College has been adjudged the best college by Punjabi University, Patiala. College principal Dr Parminder Kaur Tanghi received the award, appreciation letter and trophy during the fifth convocation ceremony dedicated to National Youth Week.
The college has received the award for the third consecutive year this time.
Elaborating on the success of the college, the principal said out of 226 colleges affiliated to the university, only five were chosen for the award this year.
The college got the award because of the social welfare activities that it undertakes, the principal added.
She said this year too, the NSS unit of the college conducted blood donation camp, ‘Save the Girl Child’ campaign, drug de-addiction campaign and seminar, environment conservation awareness programme at Jassi Pau Wali village, planted saplings under the Swachh Bharat campaign, cancer and HIV awareness campaign and contributing financial and other aid to the Jammu & Kashmir Relief Fund among other social works.
Taking congnizance of the immense social welfare works done by the students and staff members of the college, the NSS programme coordinator of the college, Prof Usha Sharma was also given the best programme officer award.
This is the fifth consecutive year that the award was given to her.
NSS volunteers from the college Sheetal Bhaghla and Jaspreet Kaur were given the best volunteer award.
