Sobha Singh Art Fest in Bathinda
Palampur, November 25
A four-day Sobha Singh Art Festival (Sobha Singh Kala Utsav) will be organised from November 30 to December 3 in Bathinda.
The festival, organised to commemorate the 117th birth anniversary of saint-philosopher-artist Sobha Singh, will comprise a national-level art exhibition, inter-school and inter-college art competitions and felicitation of some artists for their contributions to the field of art. The festival will be organised by Bathinda’s (Punjab) Sardar Sobha Singh Memorial Chittarkar Society.
The copy work of the original paintings of the late artist Sobha Singh is rampant, so a decision has been taken that no copy work will be displayed in the exhibition and only original artworks, including paintings, sculptures, etc, will be allowed.
Prizes will be distributed on December 3 at Teachers’ Home, Bathinda. Some office-bearers and members of the Sobha Singh Memorial Art Society, Andretta, will organise art and craft competitions in Palampur schools.
Bibi Gurcharan Kaur, daughter of the late artist Sobha Singh, well-known poet Dr Surjit Pattar, who is also chairman, Punjab Arts Council, and some other prominent artists will also join the festival. — OC
