Regional passport office opens

Union Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal today inaugurated the regional passport office in Bathinda.
Regional Passport Officer Munish Kapoor, deputy passport officer Amit Kumar Rawat and superintendent Sehdav Kaushik welcomed the Union Minister.
Munish Kapoor said with the opening of the office, the applicants would not have to visit Ludhiana or Chandigarh for passport related services.
Presently, 50 appointments are given every day from the Post Office Passport Sewa Kendra and the appointments till September 6 have been booked, he added.
The applicants who have already taken appointments for reissue of fresh passport at Chandigarh or Ludhiana can reschedule their appointments for Bathinda.
The applications for tatkal/PCC or other services is not available at present. All services will be available at the Passport Sewa Kendra once its start functioning fully.
Later, the appointments would be increased to 150 every day and residents of Barnala and Mansa will also be benefitted from this office, he said.
Munish Kapoor said the Sewa Kendra at the Suwidha Centre has been authorised to facilitate the public in filling up their applications and getting appointments at a nominal charge of Rs 100. He also requested the public to be aware of the touts.

Rupinder Kaur Ruby, MLA from Bathinda (Rural), claimed that the office had been launched with the efforts of MP Dr Dharamvira Gandhi and MP Bhagwant Maan.
